Transport
One of Kingsway's strongest advantages is its location and its superb links to local and national transport networks. The site will be served by a completely new infrastructure, the remodeled M62 junction 21, linking it directly to the local, regional, Trans-Pennine and national motorway network and will have a dedicated stop on the new Oldham and Rochdale MetroLink route.
The MetroLink is the UK's premier light rail network operating throughout Greater Manchester. It offers fast frequent services accessible to all, running 7 days a week, 364 days of the year. The provision of the MetroLink to Rochdale will include a dedicated stop to the north of Kingsway Business Park.
It is planned to build a transport hub around the Kingsway Metrolink Station in order to link bus and MetroLink services to provide people working on or visiting Kingsway with fully integrated public transport options. A character area will be created with local facilities including bus, taxi, cycle provision and a potential park and ride service all located close to the MetroLink stop.
The public transport experience will be further enhanced with state-of-the-art facilities such as solar powered shelters, seating, lighting, CCTV and real time transport information to guarantee employees a viable, comfortable and efficient alternative to traditional transport methods.
Kingsway Shuttle Buses will be available for use by all employees on the Business Park. These will link directly with Rochdale's bus station, train station and MetroLink station which in turn offer fast and efficient direct links into Manchester city centre and around the Borough.
Extensive work is also being carried out to improve transport to, from and around the Kingsway site. This will be achieved through Demand Responsive Transport buses to all townships (Rochdale, Heywood, Middleton and Pennines) in the early years of the development, extending to full services when the park is fully completed.
The Kingsway Partnership will also have in place a Transport Coordinator who will work with Kingsway businesses and employees to encourage sustainable travel such as car sharing schemes, cycling and walking to work.
