Rochdale's economic and community strategies and the Borough Masterplan set out ambitious visions of how Rochdale's economy and environment will develop in the future. By 2013 the target is for 800 more firms to be operating in the borough creating 7,000 more jobs and up to 10,000 more people with better skills.
Kingsway Business Park is one of the North West's largest strategic employment sites and its scale and excellent transport links to Manchester, Yorkshire, Merseyside and the Humber region mean that the development is expected to make a very positive impact on Rochdale's local economy. Kingsway will therefore be fundamental to Rochdale's economic growth targets being reached, with the site attracting investment, providing jobs and raising the profile of the borough.
One of the key measures of the inward investment attracted to Kingsway will be in the number and quality of jobs created both on the Business Park and indirectly in Rochdale as a result of the development. Current estimates are that by it's completion in 10-15 years Kingsway will support a business community of 7,250 direct employees in addition to generating 1,750 indirect jobs. Furthermore, it is estimated that businesses operating on Kingsway will contribute an additional £250-£350m per year to the Rochdale economy within 15 years..
